FLASH VetID™ Technology: Rapid In-Clinic DNA/RNA Detection
Rapid molecular testing in minutes directly in your veterinary clinic
What type of Test is the FLASH VetIDTM?
FLASH VetID™ is an in-clinic molecular nucleic acid amplification test that detects pathogen DNA or RNA, just like a lab-based PCR assay.
How does it compare to PCR in the lab?
The FLASH VetID™ relies on the same core principle: enzymatic amplification of target DNA or RNA using highly specific primers and probes. However, it does not require the traditional thermal cycling process of PCR. For this reason, the tests deliver PCR-comparable specificity and sensitivity, but in a simple, faster, and ultra-compact format.
How does it compare to other methods?
| Technology | Detects | Sensitivity | Equipment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rapid antigen/antibody test | Proteins | Moderate | None/reader |
| Lab ELISA | Proteins | High | Lab instrument |
| Lab PCR | DNA/RNA | High | Lab instrument |
| FLASH VetID | DNA/RNA | PCR-level | In-clinic FLASH Base device |

What is the SampleDirect Cartridge and how does it work?
The SampleDirect Cartridge performs multi-level sample processing, including lysis, purification, and enrichment, similar to using a syringe. It breaks open cells, captures target material, and removes impurities before amplification. This solid-phase system uses a membrane-based matrix to extract target DNA/RNA and intact pathogens such as viruses and bacteria, while eliminating reaction inhibitors, ensuring clean, concentrated templates for accurate amplification. Additionally, a secure waste chamber traps residual fluids and debris, ensuring no contamination or biohazard risk as all waste remains sealed within the cartridge after use.

What are the features and benefits of the Test Cartridge?
The Test Cartridge features lyophilized reagents, ensuring long-term stability and room-temperature storage without the need for a cold chain, making it ready to use anytime. It incorporates patented isothermal amplification with a proprietary thermodynamic design for rapid nucleic acid amplification and an extremely low risk of false positives, delivering PCR-comparable accuracy without thermal cycling. An integrated lateral flow strip provides target-specific signal readout for instant visual confirmation, eliminating the need for external instruments or fluorescence detection. Furthermore, it is a fully sealed cartridge, preventing aerosol leakage and ensuring zero contamination, making it safe for clinical and field environments.
What is FLASH Base™ and what are its key features?
FLASH Base™ is a device featuring a built-in cartridge scanner that authenticates each cartridge, verifies its expiry, and automatically adjusts test-specific parameters for optimal performance. It supports multi-channel operation, allowing up to four independent tests at once, which enables efficient in-clinic workflows for running multiple patients or pathogens simultaneously. Designed to be maintenance-free, FLASH Base™ requires no calibration or servicing; users simply power it on and test.
