FLASH Diagnostics Partners with Foshan Teams for Stray Cat Health
FLASH Diagnostics, together with local veterinarians in Foshan, Guangdong, and a long-standing stray cat rescue team, has provided public welfare support for the health management of stray cats in the region.
The initiative took place at a stray cat shelter in Foshan. FLASH Diagnostics provided the rescue team with FLASH VetID™ Tests, which were used for routine health check-ups, disease monitoring, and environmental hygiene assessments. The focus was on five common feline respiratory pathogens: Mycoplasma felis, Chlamydia felis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Herpesvirus Type 1. These pathogens can spread rapidly in multi-cat environments and persist in aerosols for long periods, posing serious challenges to cat health.
The rescue team was founded by two compassionate individuals and has rescued more than 6,000 stray cats to date, rehoming thousands of them. Currently, the team provides year-round care for 200–300 cats. They follow a scientific rescue philosophy by ensuring sufficient space, setting up quarantine and observation rooms for newly rescued cats, and working with professional medical teams to provide treatment, vaccination, deworming, and sterilization when needed. Remarkably, the two rescuers have relied on self-funding for many years and have never accepted external cash donations.
One of the rescuers, Mr. Rongyi Zhong (Easy Zhung), is a retired military veteran who now operates two technology innovation companies. Dr. Frank Ching, who supported this initiative, is a dedicated veterinarian for rescued cats and the founder of a local high-tech veterinary pharmaceutical enterprise.
Looking ahead, the rescuers will continue to follow Dr. Ching’s guidance to further strengthen health management and care practices at the shelter, creating a safer and healthier living environment for stray cats.
